George's song TFND

After George called for all Tivy Grads to come to the front he led us in the fight song.
Coach David Jones

Robin introduced our guest speaker David Jones.

Its always a pleasure to hear Coach Jones speak. He grabs your attention and you hang on every word. He brought to our
attention that Tivy school was ranked 7th in the overall UIL ranking in 5A schools in Texas. This speaks well of both        Teachers and students of Tivy. As for as football team goes, Coach feels he has the 2 best wide receivers in the state,
and 2 best quarterbacks in the state. He also noted the of the 5 captains on the football team not one has less than 3.8 GPA.
Coach was ask since his wife was in the school system for over 30 years, Did this make him focus more on the academics?
His answer was a great answer. He said he owes all of his success to his wife Holly. Looking forward to another great season for Tivy.

Wine is Fine & Queen of Spades

Bob Schmerbeck was wearing his Rotary pin (after one was called not wearing theirs) when his name was called so he won a bottle of wine. Way to go Bob.

Richard Johnson was called first and then Wayne Uecker neither got the queen of spades. Some where close to $1,100 in the pot now.

Celebrate Membership Month

August is Membership Month, which means it’s time to celebrate your Rotary club, your members, and the good you do in your community and around the world.

There are many ways to join in the celebration, but here are a few activities to get you started:

  • Say it loud, say it proud! Let everyone in your social network know that you are a proud member by changing your Twitter and Facebook profile to the , , or graphic. Copy and save the graphic as your profile picture for August.
  • Watch and share. Download RI President Gary C.K. Huang’s video on membership from . Watch it at your next meeting or club event to highlight the vital role membership plays in maintaining a strong and active club.
  • Exchange ideas. Do you have successful membership strategies that have worked well in your community? Share them on the .
  • We Are Rotary. Using the hashtag #WeAreRotary, to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Vine of your club members at work in your community or abroad to show how Rotary makes a positive impact in the world.
  • It’s Now or Never. Join us on August 13 at 10:00 Chicago time (UTC-5) for our webinar. It will feature international membership expert Nikki Walker discussing innovative ways of thinking about membership.
  • Making a difference. Rotary clubs are known for the high-impact service projects they undertake locally and globally. Share stories about your service projects and how they improve lives on . Be sure to follow us on , , and to see what Rotary members around the world are doing to celebrate Membership Month.
  • What does Rotary mean to you? Rotary members have pushed polio to the brink of eradication, delivered clean water to those in need, improved their local communities, provided scholarships to the next generation of peacemakers, and continued to do good in the world.
Labor Day Walk-A-Fun 2019

put this in your calender

Hello All,

I am emailing this to everyone who worked on last year's Walk-A-Fun event.  If you know of anyone who might be interested in helping to coordinate this event, please forward them this email.  I am going to make an announcement at lunch too!

We are hoping to add a few more "incentive" activities to boost attendance.

To make this a success, we need the help of all Rotarians - but we start with a strong committee!  So, let's brainstorm, assign tasks, delegate, and get it started!
