Jonas Titas recognizes Rotarian Cecil Atkission as a Plus-Three member of the Paul Harris Fellowship. Atkission, a past president of the Rotary Club of Kerrville and a regional motor vehicle dealer, received the gold pin set with stones to lengthy applause.
The worldwide Paul Harris Fellowship, named for the founder of the 1.2-million-member-Rotary International service organization, is made up of Rotarians who have donated $1,000 or more to the work of Rotary or are persons who have had that amount donated in their honor by members of the organization. The funds are employed in such things as efforts to wipe out hunger, polio, malaria and diseases transmitted in polluted water in developing nations, as well as in peacekeeping work.
Paul Harris-Plus status signifies that the donations total multiples of $1,000.
A majority of the 150 members of the Rotary Club of Kerrville are Paul Harris Fellows, and many hold Paul Harris-Plus status in recognition of their multiple donations.
